Where are you located?
Our office is located at 12211 97th Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta, right next door to the 7-Eleven.
Are the fees covered by Alberta Health Care (AHC)?
AHC offers only partial coverage for podiatry. Our doctors at the Edmonton Foot Health Centre choose not to charge for the first initial consultation if you have AHC. You do have to pay a portion, but the doctors waive that fee and will only charge AHC. However, a cost of $25 is charged upon the second visit and for future routine foot care visits, such as for nail clippings, corn/callus treatments, etc. For other foot treatments and surgeries, fees will be discussed with the doctor before any treatment.

Podiatry is a field of medicine that focuses on preventing, diagnosing, and treating conditions associated with the foot and ankle by medical, surgical or other means.

I have been waiting for my lab results for a while. Why haven’t you called me yet?
Please keep in mind that no news is good news. If we have not called you, it means that your results are satisfactory and there is no pressing problem that will prompt the doctor to request a lab result review with you.
How do I book an appointment?
We offer a full range of podiatric services for all age groups. If you require foot care of any kind, we at Edmonton Foot Health Centre welcome and encourage you and your family to contact our office to book an appointment. Our office and doctors are easily accessible, and appointments are readily available. You can generally book an appointment either the same day or in the following 2 to 3 days. If you experience a medical emergency, we will make it our priority to see you as soon as possible.
I’m a new patient. Do I need a referral?
Edmonton Foot Health Centre welcomes all new patients in need of foot care. A referral from your family physician is not required; however, we will accept physicians’ referrals as they come. If you are a new patient wishing to book an appointment with us, please call us during our office hours and speak with one of our staff. On the day of your first appointment, you must bring the following:
- Your valid Alberta Health Care (AHC) card
- Your date of birth
- Your address
- Your home and work telephone numbers
- A list of current medications
- A brief medical history
- A short description of your foot problem and treatments you have had before coming to our clinic
- Referring physician’s forms, if applicable
- X-ray report or x-ray CD, if applicable
Patients with Indian Affairs, Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH), Social Services or Veterans’ benefits are also required to bring valid cards to their visits. If you are a new patient, it’s also a good idea to come in 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to complete our new patient forms. This ensures a faster and more efficient visit.
What should I do if I know I will be late for an appointment?
To ensure flow efficiency in our office and allow our doctors to give each patient quality care, we highly encourage you to arrive on time for your scheduled appointment. If you think you might be late, please call and let us know. We will try our best to be accommodating. Patients who arrive more than 30 minutes late after their scheduled time may need to reschedule or wait until patients who arrived on time have seen the doctor.
What should I do if I cannot make it to my appointment?
If you are unable to keep your appointment, please call us at least 24 hours in advance so that we may allot your time to other patients. Thank you for your understanding.
Do you do home visits?
Dr. Michael Chen will provide home visits for individuals who are immobile or have a difficult time coming to our office. Please call us to inquire about home visits.
